AUTISM FC LEAGUE RETURN

Sunday 19th of November saw the return of the Autism Football League for the 2024 season!

Last year’s debut season proved to be extremely successful for the newly formed Saints in the Community Autism FC squad. After only 6 weeks of training together, the squad were introduced into the highly competitive Autism Football League, with the squad finishing in 6th position with 31 points after the 20 league games! Concluding a very successful debut league campaign, the squad competed in the Annual Autism Scottish Cup where the squad reached the semifinals, only missing out on the final by golden goal to 2023 League Champions Drumchapel.

The Saints in the Community Autism FC squad travelled through to New Beechwood Park in Dundee to compete in the first round of fixtures in the 2024 Autism Football league. Wearing the St Johnstone Football Club badge and accompanied by our coaches, players are competing in the 2024 North Region League alongside Dunfermline, Dundee United, Raith Rovers and Monifieth!

The day kicked off with the Saints in the Community squad facing up against Dundee United for the first league fixture of the season! The match would prove to be a close affair with both teams looking to get their season off to a winning start. However, the Saints in the Community squad would edge the contest between the teams, getting off to the best possible start!

This early win for the squad would be quickly followed by 3 matches against the other competitors within the group, Monifieth, Dunfermline and Raith Rovers. The Saints in the Community squad showed no signs of easing up from their earlier win, putting in a number of fantastic performances managing to pick up successive victories against Monifieth, Dunfermline and Raith Rovers! Three great performances from the Saints in the Community squad, scoring 14 goals along the way!!

The day ended with the squad facing previous opponents Dundee United and Dunfermline in the last two games of the first round of league fixtures. The Saints in the Community squad were determined to continue their unbeaten start to the season and were able to do so in convincing fashion. The squad were able to pick up further victories against Dundee United and Dunfermline to end the first round of fixtures in fine goalscoring form!

An incredible start to the 2024 season for the Saints in the Community squad, scoring 29 goals across the 6 games and every member of the squad grabbing a goal throughout the day! A massive congratulations to the squad and we look forward to seeing them build on last year’s success as they progress throughout the 2024 campaign!
