Our Team

Francis Smith

Francis Smith, Chief Executive

Francis (Fran) Smith is the Chief Executive of the Trust, having previously held positions within sport and public sector. Before joining us, Francis was a National Club Manager with Scottish Athletics and a Changing Lives Champion with Sport Scotland, having previously been an operations manager of a book business and a business development executive with a sport and leisure company too.

Outside of his day job, Fran has been involved in many sports but it's his success as an athlete which stands out.

Fran will look to combine his knowledge and experience to help guide the Trust to fulfill it's visions, aims and objectives.

Danny Griffin, Club and Community Development Officer

Danny arrived at McDiarmid Park as a fresh faced 15-year-old in 1994. He made his first team debut two years later and went on to play a total of 124 games for Saints.

His career then took him to Dundee United, Stockport County, Aberdeen, and Dundee before finishing on a high by winning the old 3rd Division in two consecutive seasons with Livingston and Arbroath.

After studying Sports Coaching at Perth and Elmwood Colleges, Danny joined the Club Community Department in 2014 as Club and Community Development Officer.

Rebekah Penman, Marketing and Fundraising Manager

Rebekah joined Saints in the Community in July 2018 having previous experience as a Project Officer for Funding, Monitoring, and Evaluation with Montrose Community Trust.

Graduating from Stirling University with an Honours Degree in Psychology in 2014 she has a sound understanding of Charity activities and uses her excellent knowledge of social media platforms, effective administration, and marketing strategies to help grow and develop Trust projects and initiatives.

Josh Henderson, Projects Officer

After 4 years of delivering our projects, Josh Henderson (no relation to Atholl) was elevated to the role of Projects Officer in January 2019.

A local lad, he spent 2 years working as a Sports Development Coach in New Zealand and returned to gain coaching experience with the Trust, completing his UEFA B Licence in 2017. He has a wide range of knowledge of both football, and non-football community projects and is a valuable member of our team.

Josh is also involved with St. Johnstone Youth Academy.

Karin Ferguson, Office Manager

Karin has been at Saints even longer than Atholl!

In March 1994, she joined the club as PA to the then Club Secretary Stewart Duff.

Over the next 22 years Karin was an essential part of the Saints backroom team, performing a variety of roles. In what can only be described as one of the most astute transfer deals in the history of the club, Atholl secured the services of Karin (on a free) when the Community Trust began life in June 2016.

Euan McLeod, Community Projects Development Manager

Euan joined our team in January 2021 in the role of Community Projects Development Manager, previously carrying out the role of Community Initiatives Co-ordinator at Southside Housing Association in Glasgow.

His knowledge of socially beneficial projects and activities, combined with his passion for football, is invaluable to the Trust and Euan is developing strong relationships with local community groups and organisations.

The St. Johnstone Community Trust operates under the guidance of a Board of Trustees.

As well as bringing a wealth of experience, knowledge, imagination, and enthusiasm to the operation of Saints in the Community, the Trustees provide governance and ensure the Trust conforms at all times to the relevant charitable legislation and the requirements of the Scottish Charity Regulator.
