Scottish FA Grassroots Award 2020
On Wednesday 9th December, the Scottish FA announced The St Johnstone Community Trust as the Best Professional Club in the Community 2020.
The annual Scottish FA grassroots awards presented by McDonald’s and the Sunday Mail are now in their 18th year and aim to recognise and reward people across the country who make a difference to grassroots football in their local community.
The awards are split into regional and national categories and grassroots clubs, coaches and volunteers from any of the six Scottish FA regions can be nominated.
This is such an exciting award for us. The St Johnstone Community Trust launched in 2016 with one simple ambition; to provide positive life enhancing experiences using sport, and football in particular, to help people throughout Perth & Kinross achieve their goals.
Like many other Community Trusts, we understand the power which football has and the role we can play to harness this. This award recognises the extent of our work and the impact it has within the Perth & Kinross community and, although we are probably guilty of not showcasing the full extent of the activities which we deliver, to have this recognised on a national level is both humbling and overwhelming.
This prestigious award does not only belong to us, but it also belongs to you - our participants and their families, our volunteers, our programme partners, our organisation & corporate supporters with of course a specific mention to St. Johnstone Football Club and Perth & Kinross Council. To everyone associated with Saints in the Community, we really couldn't have achieved this without you.
We are aware of the incredible work happening across the country so this award is such an honour for us. Previous winners include Community Trusts at Dundee United, Hibernian, Montrose and Morton - we're delighted to now sit alongside them as recipients of this award.
