AUTISM FC MILESTONE RETURN

Sunday 29th of September saw a return to action for the Saints in the Community Autism FC squad.

The day had finally arrived for the Saints in the Community Autism FC squad to return to league duties, as they embarked on their first set of regional fixtures for the 24/25 season. The squad of 12 players travelled to the Michael Woods Sports Centre in Glenrothes for a highly anticipated day of competition. For the first time ever, SITC had two teams entered into the Team United regional league!

Wearing their Sidey-sponsored strips and accompanied by coaches, the Saints Blues and Saints Whites were eager to get their new league campaign off to the best possible start after the successes of last season, which saw the Saints in the Community squad collect two pieces of silverware.

The day began with a warm-up session for both teams before the Saints Blues kicked things off against Milton FC. The Blues started strongly, defeating the team from Bannockburn to secure a victory in their opening fixture.

Next up, it was the turn of the Saints Whites, who took on familiar opponents Dunfermline Athletic. The Whites put in a strong performance in what was a tightly contested match. Unfortunately, they narrowly missed out on the win. Meanwhile, the Blues were back in action against Dunfermline's rivals, Raith Rovers. The Blues showed no signs of slowing down, picking up another victory to make it two wins from two.

In the third round of fixtures, the Blues faced Tayside rivals Dundee United, while the Whites took on Milton FC. Both Saints teams gave their all, however, both fixtures would end in defeat, with the squads quickly shifting their focus to their remaining games.

The next round saw the Blues take a well-deserved rest, while the Whites faced Raith Rovers. A strong team performance led the Whites to a well-earned victory, lifting spirits ahead of the final stretch of the day.

The first round of regional fixtures concluded with a set of three quick-fire games, including an exciting first-ever matchup between the Saints Blues and Whites. The Blues continued their winning streak, securing three victories against Monifieth, Dunfermline, and the Saints Whites to round off a fantastic day. The Whites, meanwhile, faced tough competition in their final 3 games, narrowly losing to Dundee United, Monifieth, and the Saints Blues.

A massive congratulations to both the Saints Blues and Whites for showing incredible determination and effort throughout the day. We’re already looking forward to the next round of fixtures in February, with the squad continuing to train weekly at McDiarmid Park to keep building for future fixtures!
