AUTISM FC FINALS DAY
Sunday 25th May saw another exciting day of football action for the Saints in the Community Autism FC squad.
The Saints in the Community Autism FC squad, split into two teams, travelled to Falkirk Stadium for the final round of league fixtures for the 2024/25 season. With clubs from across the country in attendance, it was a fantastic day filled with competitive football, team spirit, and plenty of memorable moments.
Kitted out in their Sidey-sponsored strips, both squads were eager to put in a strong showing and end their campaigns on a high. The day began with warm-ups before the action got underway.
The Premiership side faced five tough fixtures against Morton, Dundee United, Hutchison Vale, Haddington, and Rangers. The team opened their day with a hard-fought draw against Morton, showing resilience by twice coming from behind. A narrow defeat followed against Dundee United, in a match where they gave everything but just fell short. Up next was Hutchison Vale in a high-tempo contest that also ended in defeat, despite a spirited performance. The Saints continued to battle hard, losing out by the narrowest of margins against Haddington, before finishing the day against Rangers in what proved to be another challenging fixture.
Next up, the Championship squad got their day underway in what would go on to be a day to remember. They kicked off their campaign with a confident win over Dunfermline, setting the tone for what would become a dominant run. A closely contested draw with Monifieth followed, before the Saints bounced back with a win against Drumchapel. The momentum kept building with another victory over Glasgow Saints, followed by a hard-earned win against Murieston. A goalless draw against Edinburgh South came next, before they finished the day in style with a strong win against Hibernian.
Remaining unbeaten across their seven matches, the Saints Championship side went on to be crowned winners of the Championship Finals Day — a fantastic achievement that reflected the effort and hard work shown throughout the day.
Off the pitch, both squads represented the Trust with pride, showing excellent sportsmanship and respect throughout. Congratulations to both teams, with the players now returning to their weekly training sessions as they look ahead to future events!
