Saints in the Community spreads Christmas cheer to people at risk of isolation through SPFL Trust Festive Friends campaign.
Saints in the Community are delighted to announce we will once again be bringing Christmas cheer, kindness and compassion to older people in the community by taking part in this year’s Festive Friends programme in partnership with the SPFL Trust.
The SPFL Trust programme is now in its tenth year of operating with SPFL associated community trusts & clubs will work with local partners to identify older people who may be feeling lonely or isolated, including St. Johnstone!
This year, Saints in the Community staff and volunteers will visit individuals throughout the local community with hampers with there also being an increased focus on our in-person event as we look forward to welcoming nominees to McDiarmid Park to enjoy a hot Christmas lunch, fun and games, a gift and transport there and home.

The programme supported around 5,200 people living in social isolation last year across Scotland, with this number expected to increase for 2025. It’s been another difficult year for everyone, as we deal with the pressures of the cost-of-living crisis. But of course, winter is always a tough time for older people, who are at higher risk of social isolation and loneliness.
If you have an elderly relative, friend, neighbour or customer who is at risk of being alone this festive period and you would like to nominate them, please complete our online nomination form: https://forms.office.com/e/ZbUQBN1LEt
All nominations should be received by Wednesday 10th December. Spaces are limited and will be offered to those eligible on a first-come, first-served basis. Please be aware that we unfortunately may not be able to support all applications.
