AUTISM FC - TREBLE WINNERS

Sunday 31st May marked the final competitive fixture of the 2025/26 season for the Saints in the Community Autism FC squad as they travelled to Edinburgh to compete in the annual Team United Scottish Cup, held at the Peffermill Playing Fields.

Having already enjoyed a hugely successful campaign, which saw the squad crowned North Region Championship winners before going on to be named joint National Premiership champions alongside Rangers, the Scottish Cup provided the perfect opportunity to round off the season on a high.

A squad of 13 players once again represented Saints in the Community on the day. Split into the Saints Blues and Saints Whites, both teams were eager to test themselves against opposition from across Scotland in a full-day tournament.

The Saints Whites faced a challenging group stage and got their day underway against Rangers before taking on Hibs, Dunfermline, Haddington and KSQ. Despite suffering defeat in their opening fixture, the Whites responded positively and continued to work hard throughout the day, earning a draw against Hibs before recording an impressive victory over Dunfermline. The Whites would just fall short against Haddington before ending the day with an impressive victory over KSQ. While the results were not enough to progress to the knockout stages, the team showed great determination and resilience throughout the day and represented the trust with pride.

The Saints Blues enjoyed an outstanding tournament from start to finish. They opened their campaign with two hard fought draws against Murieston and Drumchapel before they were able to build momentum with consecutive victories over East Kilbride, Edinburgh South, and Greenock Morton. Their strong group stage performances secured a place in the knockout rounds, where they continued their impressive form with a well-earned semi-final victory against Haddington.

Awaiting them in the final were Rangers, providing an opportunity for another memorable meeting between the two clubs following the Saints Whites' shared Premiership title success earlier this year. The Saints Blues rose to the occasion, producing another excellent performance to secure victory and lift the Team United Scottish Cup. Their consistency, teamwork, and determination across a long day of football was evident from start to finish, and they were deservedly crowned Scottish Cup Champions.

Off the pitch, both squads once again represented Saints in the Community with pride, demonstrating excellent sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect throughout the day. A huge thank you goes to all players, coaches, volunteers, and supporters who contributed to making the tournament such a success.

Congratulations to all of our players on another brilliant day, and a special congratulations to the Saints Blues on bringing home the Team United Scottish Cup and ending a memorable 2025/26 season in style.
